Apple - Prairie Sensation
Apple - Prairie Sensation
Ardens Favorite. Large fruit, more than 3 inches in diameter, and is "balanced" between sweet and tart. This is the best-known variety produced by the US and for a good reason. It cooks, juices, stores well, and tastes fresh. Experts in Alberta rate it the best apple for this area. Hardy, and continues crop after crop despite some tough years. Moderate vigor with a good growth habit sets a lower but reasonable number of apples each spring (less thinning required). The tree is "slightly leggy," and fruit sets on spurs, not tips. It is usually ripe about the second week of September and was released in 2008 by the University of Saskatchewan.
