Black Currant - Ben Hope

Hardy, high yielding, good quality fruit of the Scottish Ben series. This is one of the most popular black currants in England. Its upright growth is rapid, and the plant can become quite tall for an ideal harvest. Fruit is a nice size for picking. Good disease resistance to bud mite, mildew and leaf spot. Plant in full sun to partial shade and well draining rich evenly moist soil. Currants will tolerate wet feet and even standing water for a time. Mulch the roots. Ready to harvest around mid July and excellent for freezing.
