Alfred and Arden will both be teaching or available to answer various questions. Both have practiced in the horticultural trade for 50 years! Coffee is on all day. Hardy lunch available.

Session 1: 11:00 – 12:00 Fruits for Alberta
Best sites and how to improve sites.
Bring your plans and we can give you some suggestions.
Under planted fruits – Plums, black currants, gooseberries
Why plant fruits? Know where your food has come from. Know how it has been handled.
How to grow basic fruits. Come network and visit with other gardeners. 
Learn about Asparagus, bush fruit, raspberries, tree fruits.

Session 2: 1:00 – 2:00 Tree Pruning and Maintenance
Basics for all
How to prune, why to prune, what to prune, how much to prune
Fruit tree pruning. Hands on in the yard.
Treasured Red – How to make a special show piece columnar apple.

Session 3: 2:30 – 3:30 Grafting
Beginner basic class to take the mystique out of grafting.
Why graft? Why wouldn’t you want 10 or more fruit trees on 2 trees. It is fun to put 30
varieties into a city yard! Easy and we can show you how. Look at multigrafted specimens around the farm. There are many ways to graft and we will show you a few.
